FINISH LINE: Ochocinco stopped in his tracks

No mustard for that Hot Dog

Cincinnati Bengals coach Marvin Lewis has put the kibosh on condiments.

Receiver Chad Ochocinco tweeted this week that he planned to send mustard to the Pittsburgh Steelers in advance of their game Sunday at Heinz Field. When Lewis got wind of the plan, he put an end to it.

Lewis has prohibited him from sending anything to Pittsburgh. Last week, Ochocinco the receiver sent deodorant to some of the Baltimore Ravens a few days before their game. The Ravens came to Cincinnati and lost 17-7, with Ochocinco having a big game.

The Bengals and Steelers are tied for first place in the AFC North at 6-2.

Just for kicks: He hasn’t played a down this season, but 61-year-old graduate student Tom Thompson of suburban Dallas is hoping to get into the game for his college football team this weekend.

Thompson says he is ready to kick for the Austin College Kangaroos when the Division III school hosts Trinity University in Saturday’s season finale.

Thompson tells KXII-TV that he was a backup kicker in high school, but that was more than 40 years ago. He says he “had to learn how to kick all over again.”

Coach Ronnie Gage says he’s unsure whether he will play Thompson on Saturday, but he praised the man who’s “gone through a lot of hard work and a lot of pain to be able to do this.”
