M-P’s Denton ‘doubtful’ for Friday’s game

Senior running back Austin Denton might not play Friday when No. 8 Marysville-Pilchuck (10-0) faces third-ranked Auburn (10-0) in the first round of the Class 4A state football playoffs.

Denton, the star of M-P’s prolific running attack, injured his ankle last week during the Tomahawks’ 49-24 Quad-district victory over Graham-Kapowsin and is “doubtful” for tonight’s contest, M-P coach Brandon Carson said.

“It’s a little bit worse than we thought it was,” Carson said. “It’s not looking good right now.”

Denton leads all area running backs this season with 2,055 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns.
