Around The County
Arlington: Ramp work on I-5 finished
The new and improved onramps and offramps to and from I-5 at Highway 531 (172nd Street NE) have been completed ahead of schedule, but the rest of the freeway improvement project at the Smokey Point interchange probably wont be wrapped up now until the summer.
State Department of Transportation officials, elected representatives and others gathered recently to celebrate the opening of the ramps and to dedicate the overpass in honor of the late Oliver Punks Smith. Smith was a longtime Arlington city councilman who helped lead the effort to reduce congestion at the busy interchange.
The event was attended by Smiths children and siblings.
