Dramatic photo captures dramatic weather John Schmitt snapped this dramatic photograph Nov. 13, the day of the surprise snowstorm in the south Everett convergence zone.“I’m not a photographer by profession, but I do enjoy taking photos as a hobby,” Schmitt says. “Nor am I a meteorologist, but I enjoy weather watching.” He took the thunderstorm photo facing Everett from his home in the Sunnyside area of Marysville. “This was just a great photo op,” he says. “Most of my photos are family activities now, but I enjoy photographing landscapes and doing some amateur astro photography when conditions are right.” His father-in-law, Herb Fliger, said that his place off Mukilteo Boulevard in south Everett was covered with snow that evening. “He was surprised to see the magnitude of the cloud structure that delivered the snow.” No need to be hungry Thursday in Marysville. Free Thanksgiving meals will be served from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at Allen Creek Community Church, 7314 44th Ave. NE. Tod Corser says they could feed as many as 200 folks. The youth group, sponsors of the meal, knows where to find the needy. They are distributing flyers about the dinner at food banks—and on the streets. Kidzle B. Kids Childcare in Smokey Point is busy preparing for Thanksgiving. The children are having a feast and program Tuesday. They will dress in traditional Native American and pilgrim costumes. The lunch will include pumpkin pie. They grew the pumping in the day care “Victory” garden. Oh yum, parents get to eat pie, too. They are also collecting food for the needy. Melody Lich and Misha Van Leuven will deliver the goods. Greg Woodman, 48, founder of the Arlington Runners Club, died Sept. 2 in a climbing accident in Maxwell Falls, Colo. A Greg Woodman Memorial Toys for Tots 5K Walk or Run/10K Run is planned for 11 a.m. Dec. 5 at Stillaguamish Athletic Club, 4417 172nd St. NE, Arlington. Woodman’s friend and fellow runner, Will Miller, says Woodman’s accomplishments as a diabetic athlete inspired others to challenge themselves physically.
