More workers laid off in Snohomish County's planning department

EVERETT — Another wave of layoffs is due to sap Snohomish County’s already depleted planning department.

Sixteen employees with county planning and development services received layoff notices earlier this month. All affected employees had been told ahead of time the notices would be coming, county spokesman Christopher Schwarzen said.

The number of people who ultimately lose jobs could end up being lower because of voluntary layoffs, retirements and ongoing budget deliberations, among other factors.

Two years ago, with the housing market at its peak, the planning department employed more than 260 workers. The fall in construction-related revenue has shrunk the work force to less than a third of that number.

I'm so sorry to hear of more of the people in Planning Dept.of Sno.co. getting layed off.Now maybe if they find new jobs, they won't act like they are GOD. I was trying for a year to get the OK to build a new house on my property---but every time I sat in line to speak to one of the PD personal,I had to wait all day long and then when I did see one of them
,they were so rude and acted like they were God and I was a nobody because I was not a Master builder,I was a single home builder. They all acted like that.Hope they learn to treat the common man a little better in their new jobs----if they can find one. Reece Morris Granite Falls Wa.

Actually, planners are supposed to enforce code. But that isn't the way it works at PDS. I would welcome real and impartial planners. The Master Builders have PDS leadership in their pockets along with the politicians. Just look at all the smoozing with the MBS that got Ladiser outed and canned. In my opinion, these are the smarmy prostitutes that the county should be dealing with, not a bunch of coffee hut bimbos just trying to make a buck. The PDS logo should be three stumps. And, no one has been successful at ruining my neighborhood!

Moon Dance get a clue. Planners dont make code, they enforce them. If anyone ruined your neighborhood it was some politician. Enjoy your 20 week wait for a permit to remodel or add onto your house.

Chicken soup for the Snohomish Co soul
Good riddance PDS people, but gosh it is a hard time to be out of work.
And Merry Christmas Snohomish County! Looks like these fools won't be ruining as many neighborhoods this holiday season. lol
