Sing out: Brier Library’s Bryan Stratton will be at Granite Falls Library from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday for a musical representation of American history.
The program, “When Johnny Comes Marching Home,” covers the Civil War era. You can join in the singing of the popular songs that welded the nation together.

Head’s up: Meet popular Seattle writer J.A. Jance as she reads from and signs her latest novel, “Trial by Fire,” at several places in the next few weeks.
“Trial by Fire” finds Jance character Ali Reynolds investigating a burn victim who emerges from a coma with no idea who she is or who wants her dead.
Jance will speak at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at University Bookstore 15311 Main St, Mill Creek; 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Third Place Books, 17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park; and 1 p.m. Dec. 13 at Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave.

Time off: Looking for something to keep those little turkeys busy this week? The Marysville Library will teach teens how to turn recycled objects into light switch covers. The crafts session is at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the library, 6120 Grove St. Call 360-658-5000 or go online to www.sno-isle.org.
