Biz Bits EventsThe Everett office of the state Department of Revenue will host a free workshop for new and small business owners from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at the Everett Public Library, 2702 Hoyt Ave. The workshop will cover state excise taxes, reporting classifications, deductions, tax incentives, sales tax collection and record-keeping requirements. An open house for the city of Lynnwood’s one-stop Permit Center and the Community Development, Economic Development and Fire Prevention offices is set for 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 2. People Tedd Riggan has been named assistant manager at Smokey Point Concrete’s Arlington plant. He will oversee dispatching and assisting in overall supervision. He has been with the company for three years after 15 years of prior experience in sales and management in the agriculture and fertilizer industry. Good Deeds Quality Business Systems recently donated $10,000 to the YMCA of Snohomish County’s Invest in Youth Campaign. The money was raised at the company’s annual charity golf tournament in September. Awards Thomson Reuters has named Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett as one of the nation’s top 100 hospitals for inpatient cardiovascular services.
