Early morning gunfire wounds 2 in Everett

EVERETT — Police are investigating early morning gunfire that sent two men to the hospital with bullet wounds.

The shots rang out around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of 93rd Street SW, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

Officers found a man, 23, inside a home. He’d been shot several times, Goetz said.

The man told officers that a burglar broke in and shot him but he’d been able to get a gun and return fire.

The burglar ran off.

Police found the break-in suspect nearby, also with gunshot wounds, Goetz said.

Both men were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. The victim is expected to survive his injuries.

The suspect was later transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The extent of his injuries wasn’t immediately known, Goetz said.

Detectives with the major crimes unit are investigating to try to determine the motive, Goetz said.

Other people were in the home at the time of the assault, but no one else was injured.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Everett Police Department at 425-257—8450.
