Kristopher Johnson of Arlington won $6.5 million in the lottery.

New millionaire

Kristopher Johnson, a father of three from Arlington, had been struggling to find work after being laid off last year from his job as a software support analyst.

Johnson and his son were on their way to visit relatives last week when they decided to swing into Lake Stevens Chevron in Frontier Village on Highway 9. There Johnson bought a couple of Lotto tickets with a few extra dollars.

On Sunday, Johnson found out he had won $6.5 million, a state Lottery spokeswoman said.

Johnson told Lottery officials he isn’t sure how he will spend his money, except that he plans to buy a Thanksgiving turkey and a Christmas tree, get out of debt and invest in his children’s college education fund.
