New millionaire
Kristopher Johnson, a father of three from Arlington, had been struggling to find work after being laid off last year from his job as a software support analyst.
Johnson and his son were on their way to visit relatives last week when they decided to swing into Lake Stevens Chevron in Frontier Village on Highway 9. There Johnson bought a couple of Lotto tickets with a few extra dollars.
On Sunday, Johnson found out he had won $6.5 million, a state Lottery spokeswoman said.
Johnson told Lottery officials he isn’t sure how he will spend his money, except that he plans to buy a Thanksgiving turkey and a Christmas tree, get out of debt and invest in his children’s college education fund.
Judge Brown will rule: Michael Counihan, 51, from Everett is suing his son-in-law, Michael Craig, 23, from Everett for $4,779.
See the case today on “Judge Joe Brown” at 11:30 a.m. on KSTW, Channel 11. Counihan says he lent Craig the money to pay off traffic fines and to get his driver’s license reinstated. He said that the defendant also borrowed money for bail and Christmas gifts. Craig says the money was a gift.
Symphony entertains tonight in Everett: Everett Youth Symphony Orchestras kick off their 45th concert season with a performance featuring Prelude, Intermezzo, Junior and Youth symphonies at 7 tonight at Northshore Christian Academy, 5700 23rd Drive W., Everett.
EYSO alumni and friends are invited to bring their instruments and join the orchestras for the fall concert finale of “Sleigh Ride.”
Tickets are $5 for adults, $3 for students and $12 for a family of four.
