Gunshots injure two Everett men
Police don’t believe the violence was random
EVERETT — Police are investigating an exchange of gunfire in south Everett early Tuesday that injured two men.
Shots rang out around 1 a.m. in the 600 block of 93rd Street SW, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.
Investigators do not believe the violence was random, he said.
Officers rushed to a home where a man, 23, reported he was the victim of a home-invasion assault, Goetz said. He’d been shot several times.
The man told officers that a burglar broke in and shot him. The man told police he was able to get a gun and return fire.
The burglar ran off. Officers used a police dog to track the break-in suspect. They found him across the street from the victim’s home in bushes. He also had gunshot wounds, Goetz said.
Both men were taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett. The victim is expected to survive his injuries.
The suspect was transferred to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. He suffered serious injuries and his prognosis wasn’t known, Goetz said.
Detectives with the major crimes unit are investigating to try to determine the motive, Goetz said. They’re still investigating the connection between the two men.
Other people were in the home at the time of the assault, but no one else was injured.
