Seahawks vs. Rams game thread

Greetings from a half-full (maybe) Edward Jones Dome Just a couple moments away from kickoff. The Seahawks will start with the ball. Let's hope the computer holds up better today than last week so I can provide you all with details from this exciting matchup of NFC bottom feeders.
They even boo Josh Brown in St. Louis OK, not really. The 30,000 or so fans were booing the decision to kick a field goal on 4th-and-1 from the Seahawks 29. The boos got louder when Brown's field-goal attempt missed wide right, leaving the Rams with no points to show for a drive that started with first downs on the first two plays.
The Seahawks' first possession started off much less promising. Matt Hasselbeck was sacked on the first play of the game, leading to a three-and-out.
They'll get the ball back now with descent field position, however, thanks to Brown's miss.
Justin Forsett gives the Seahawks a 7-0 lead Apparently the Rams were what the Seahawks needed to cure their running-game woes. A week after the Seahawks were held to a franchise-low 4 rushing yards, they rushed for 43 on their last possession to go up 7-0. Forsett, who is filling in for the injured Julius Jones, had a 25-yard carry to start the drive, and ended it with a 3-yard touchdown.
Rankin fumble ends promising drive Seattle forced the Rams into a three-and-out, then moved the ball into Rams territory until a Louis Rankin fumble just ended the drive.
A bit of good news for the Seahawks--Patrick Kerney (remember him? Wears No. 97) got to Kyle Boller to record a sack.
Seahawks lead 7-0 after one quarter But the Rams are threatening, and will face third-and-3 at the Seahawks 14 when play resumes. This drive was helped along by a pass interference call on Marcus Trufant, the sixth penalty on him since he came back from a back injury. I'd love to make a "you can't spell Trufant without INT" joke, but, well, that's just not true. Darn.
Rams tie it Marc Bulger hit Donnie Avery for a 1-yard touchdown to cap an 11-play, 65-yard drive that tied the score at 7.
Louis Rankin is back for the kickoff, let's see if he can redeem himself after coughing up a fumble that led to that touchdown. Not a great start so far for him; he also dropped a screen pass.
Well, so much for that idea. Ben Obomanu ended up fielding the kick, not Rankin.
First-and-10 Seahawks at the 26-yard line.
Oh, so that's why Kyle Boller is a backup After starting the game off looking good, Kyle Boller just threw a third-down pass right at Jordan Babineaux. Unfortunately for the Seahawks, Babineaux didn't make the catch (it was the second ball today he could have picked), but the Rams still had to punt.
The Seahawks went three-and-out again, however, so Boller and the Rams are about to get the ball back.
Wilson pick-six gives the Seahawks the lead Rams fans were booing earlier in the game when St. Louis didn't go for it on fourth down, but the decision to do just that facing fourth-and-four just led to a Seahawks touchdown. Kelly Jennings made a nice play to break up a pass intended for Donnie Avery, and Josh Wilson caught the tipped ball and went 65 yards for his second touchdown of the season.
And speaking of cornerbacks, Marcus Trufant picked up another penalty on that drive, this time for defensive holding.
Josh Brown makes it 14-10 at the half A 55-yard field goal cut the Seahawks lead down to four points at the end of the half. But hey, when you're facing the Rams' two-minute offense, down five offensive starters, you should feel fortunate to hold them to three points, right? OK, maybe not.
Not exactly a good first half for the Seahawks, but thanks to the Rams' own ineptitude, Seattle has the lead. Looks like a win won't come as easily for the Seahawks this time around, however.
Bad start to the second half for Seattle I was about to point out that the Seahawks first possession netted negative yards, as did their first possession of the first half, then things got worse. Jon Ryan's punt was deflected and went only 19 yards, giving the ball to St. Louis at the Seahawks' 35.
And a funny moment at the end of the play, as Aaron Curry used the old shove-the-guy-into-the-ball trick to try to get the ball back from Seattle. Unfortunately for the Seahawks the officials were on top of things and didn't give the ball to the Seahawks.
Babi-yes Jordan Babineaux, who hasn't lived up to his "Big Play Babs" nickname, just made a play, picking off an underthrown pass in the end zone. A rather ridiculous tripping penalty call gave the Seahawks 10 extra yards, so they'll start at the 30.
Can we call that the Hasselcat offense? Everyone in the building was surprised to see Matt Hasselbeck run for 19 yards on a bootleg. And that came just two plays after Seneca Wallace came in at quarterback and rushed for 10 yards and a first down.
The drive stalled out at the 11, however, so the Seahawks had to settle for a field goal and a 17-10 lead.
That drive also featured the first catches of the day for T.J. Houshmandzadeh. He had two catches, but couldn't quite catch up to a pass in the end zone that was just out of his reach.
Another Forsett touchdown makes it 24-10 The Seahawks are gaining control of the game and now lead by two touchdowns after a Justin Forsett 2-yard run.
Forsett gained 11 yards on 4th-and-inches two plays earlier to set up the score. He now has 80 yards and two scores on 15 carries.
Through three quarters this is not a very pretty game for either team. Hard to imagine that it wasn't too long ago that the Rams and Seahawks battled for NFC West supremacy.
Mare ties a team record Olindo Mare just kicked a 38-yard field goal to make it 27-10, and that was his 16th straight make going back to the Chicago game, tying a franchise record. He missed twice that day and was harshly criticized after the game by Jim Mora. Apparently he got the message.
