Substance matches style in Lady Gaga’s ‘Monster’
Lady Gaga released her sophomore album, “The Fame Monster,” in time for the Black Friday buying spree.
TRIVIA: Lady Gaga has sold 11.1 million digital tracks so far in 2009, making her the year’s second best-selling artist behind Michael Jackson, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
STANDOUTS: Gaga takes a brief break from the dance floor for a cracked love song, “Speechless,” and shows she may have a life outside the discotheques.
FANS DIG: High fashion.
ANDY SAYS: All those awful outfits and oversexed videos makes it seem like Gaga is all about style. It’s easy to forget she has genuine talent. Her new eight-track album delivers tightly wound dance tracks with the same bubble gum hooks and provocative lyrics that made her a breakout star. It’s solid pop music that serves its purpose well.
GRADE: B-plus
