Jerry Sprute, a former Edmonds resident, has returned to the city as an attorney for the new Edmonds office of Johnson & Nagaich, an elder-law and estate-planning law firm serving the Puget Sound region. The office is at 100 Second Ave. S., just south of Main Street. Sprute attended Meadowdale High School and his family lived in Edmonds for more than 15 years. He will participate in a life-care planning seminar from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Jan. 9 at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 Fourth Ave. N. The free event is sponsored by Aging Options and focuses on helping older adults remain independent as long as possible.
Kurt Armbruster has been named vice president for sending and utility systems at Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Lynnwood. Armbruster will be responsible for strategy development and planning, achievement of key financial objectives, business leadership and product development activities for Crane's Sensing and Utility Systems product line.
Kent Langabeer, founder of Langabeer McKernan Burnett & Co., has retired. Langabeer started the firm in 1962 in Everett and later expanded it to offices in Stanwood and Marysville. The firm specializes in all types of tax work, estates and trusts, financial statements, audits, and nonprofit services. He has served on many boards and has volunteered with many service organizations, including serving as president of the Marysville Noon Rotary and as a member of the Private Industry Council of Snohomish County, the Alternative School Advisory Board, the Senior Services Board, the Cascade Land Conservancy and the Everett First Presbyterian Church.

An open house for the city of Lynnwood's one-stop Permit Center and the Community Development, Economic Development and Fire Prevention offices is 10 a.m. to noon Thursday. The center is at 4114 198th St. SW, Suite 7. Lynnwood residents and developers are invited.
Olympia preview: Legislators will discuss the upcoming 2010 session at Snohomish County Councilman John Koster's next business roundtable, 7 to 8:30 a.m. Dec. 15 at the Monte Cristo Hotel, 1507 Wall St. Speakers will be Reps.
