The backbone of any organization in baseball is its scouting department, and the Mariners today announced seven additions.
Among them is one we wrote about last week, former University of Washington assistant baseball coach Joe Ross. Ross will handle the Northwest, focusing on the states of Washington, Oregon, Montana, Wyoming, Idaho and Alaska.
Other hires (and their territories) are:
Butch Baccala, West Coast Supervisor.
John Ramey, Southern California.
Tony Russo, Midwest (Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota).
Jess Kapellusch, Southwest (North Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska).
Mike Moriarity, Atlantic (Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware).
Devitt Moore, Gulf Coast (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama).

There's GOT to be a way that I can land one of these scouting gigs!
