Notre Dame football team to vote on bowl while waiting Weis decision

SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame players have scheduled a players meeting for Monday while awaiting word on the fate of coach Charlie Weis.

The meeting, set for mid-afternoon, will include a vote on whether the players want to play in a bowl game after a 6-6 season. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick has said he will consider the players’ wishes in deciding on a bowl trip.

Weis was not in his office early Monday, though there were no announcements about whether he will return for a sixth season. Swarbrick has said he will make that decision within the next few days.
