Everett Area Chamber of Commerce announces its annual honors EVERETT — Everett Mall manager Linda Johannes is this year's winner of the Henry M. Jackson Citizen of the Year award from the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce.The annual award, named after the late U.S. senator from Everett, will be presented to Johannes Dec. 9 at the chamber's annual awards dinner that will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Hansen Conference Center at Comcast Arena. Johannes was honored for what chamber president Louise Stanton-Masten called exemplary service to the business community and a commitment to business interests in Everett. She has been a member of the chamber's board of directors since 1991 and serves on its finance and executive committees. As a co-chairman of the Navy Affairs Committee, she has been particularly involved in supporting Naval Station Everett and military families, Stanton-Masten said. Other award recipients include: Rock Peterson, owner and chief executive of Brien Ford-Mitsubishi, the corporate executive of the year. The award acknowledges his company's success as well as his work to advance business and to serve as a positive role model. Dale Newman, CEO of Industrial Massage, is the small-business executive of the year. Like Peterson, Newman is being honored for work at his business and in the community. Arlan Hatloe, a member of the Everett City Council, will receive the service to business award for support tor business. Community Transit and Everett Transit were named jointly for the business innovation award for their work in developing the SWIFT bus rapid transit program along the Highway 99 corridor to move people quickly. Providence Regional Medical Center of Everett was named employer of the year for excellent management, mentoring and leadership. Keith Nowicki, commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Station in Everett, has been named the employee of the year for his dedication to his work and for serving as a positive role model. Clay Wertheimer of Everett Bone & Joint will receive the community caring award for his community service and for his commitment to an organization designed to enhance the lives of others. Patrick Sievers of Everett Downtown Storage was named the young professional of the year for his demonstrated leadership, success and drive. Stanton-Masten said he is an indispensable asset to his business and has advanced not only his company but the individuals around him. Ted Wenta of the group Leadership Snohomish County will receive the friend of the chamber award for his commitment to chamber interests and activities. John Carsten of Carsten Cleaning will receive Stanton-Masten's president's award for contributing his dedication, creativity, inspiration and enthusiasm to the chamber. Mike Holcomb of the Snohomish County PUD will receive the chairman's award for extraordinary support and for contributions that have helped make the chamber a success. Jeff Jermulowske of Windermere Real Estate will be honored as ambassador of the year for enthusiastically spreading the word about the benefits of chamber membership.
