Newborns cry in different languages, study says 12/2/09
Party crashers admit they had no invitation 12/2/09

Whining, lying and crying

That's not the engines revving up: Boeing rival Northrup Grumman, who would team with EADS in a bid for the Air Force's refueling tanker, is threatening to pull out of the competition unless the Air Force changes bid requirements it says favor Boeing's 767-based tanker.

We think Northrup Grumman is simply bluffing. Its complaint shows it already intends to meet all Air Force minimum bid specifications for whining.

  • Didn't offer to help with the dishes either: Tareq and Michaele Salahi went on NBC's “Today” show Tuesday to insist that they did not crash the White House state dinner but have now admitted they had no invitation.

We were all set to believe the Salahis were legitimate guests until they showed up unannounced at the Buzz Family Thanksgiving, hogged all the dark meat and took a third helping of pumpkin pie.

  • La waaaah! A study of French and German newborns suggests that babies' cries reflect the language of their parents. French babies cries started low in pitch and went higher, while German babies started high and then fell in pitch.

What caused them to cry also differed. German babies cried after losses by favorite soccer teams, while French babies wailed when their cigarettes were taken away.
