Take a toy donation to Navy Band concert

Today is Pearl Harbor Day, so a good opportunity to set a patriotic mood and remind everyone about a chance to see the Navy Band Northwest play a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Everett Performing Arts Center.

The band’s Olympic Brass Choir, the contemporary ensemble and the big band will also perform at the “Spirit of the Season” concert.

No tickets are needed for this free event, but Marine Corps volunteers will accept donations for Toys for Tots. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. The theater is at 2710 Wetmore Ave.

Whidbey Islanders can catch the Navy Band concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Harbor High School auditorium, 950 NW Second Ave.

And for you kids whose history classes haven’t reached World War II yet, Dec. 7, 1941, was “a date which will live in infamy,” according to President Franklin D, Roosevelt, when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.
