Burn ban issued in Snohomish County SEATTLE — The Puget Sound Clean Air Agency has issued a Stage 2 burn ban for Snohomish County because of stagnant air and high pollution levels. It’s the first burn ban in Snohomish, King, Pierce and Kitsap counties this winter season.The ban means no burning in any wood-burning fireplaces, stoves or inserts — certified or uncertified — unless it is the only source of a home’s heat. All outdoor fires are prohibited. Violators could be subject to a $1,000 fine. The agency says it is keeping tabs on conditions in Pierce and Kitsap counties, where pollution levels also are elevated. It says it could expand the burn ban to those counties on Wednesday. |
