‘Making Spirits Bright’ in Edmonds
Enterprise staff
Seattle Women’s Chorus will bring holiday cheer to Edmonds Center for the Arts with their holiday concert “Making Spirits Bright,” Friday, Dec. 11 at the Edmonds Center for the Arts.
The angelic (and mighty) voices of the chorus are set to present an eclectic program of traditional and non-traditional songs of the season, including a trio of mischievous singing chipmunks, a visit with the music of some unforgettable women singer-song writers like Mary Chapin Carpenter and Joni Mitchell, and an irreverent “Womyn’s Winter Solstice Festival.”
Founded in 1979, the internationally renowned Seattle Men’s Chorus, along with Seattle Women’s Chorus (founded in 2002), are the largest community choruses in America and the largest gay choruses in the world. Flying House Productions, home of Seattle Men’s Chorus and Seattle Women’s Chorus, ranks third among the state’s music organizations with over 300 members of SMC and over 200 members of SWC.
The Seattle Women’s Chorus released its debut CD, “Winternight Journeys,” in 2005, after only two full seasons of performance.
