It's the umlauts and a lot more: Everett's Lazy Boy Brewing has a new beer, Whip Ale, named and created by Queensrÿche guitarist Michael “Whip” Wilton. Wilton helped found the heavy-metal band in Bellevue in the early '80s.

  • Flurry Watch 2009: The Puget Sound region could see snow this weekend as cold temperatures hang on and moisture moves in.

    But Farmer Buzz's Almanac offers an easy way to judge how much snow to expect: Count on less than an inch if the TV reporter is wearing a balaclava and a fur-lined parka, and 2 inches or more if the reporter is outfitted for a winter ascent of Mount McKinley.




  • Cleared for takeoff: Boeing says it has fixed a flaw that delayed the 787's first flight in June, and the plane is scheduled to fly Tuesday. All it needs to fly from Paine Field is good visibility, no more than a gentle wind and no standing water on the runway.

    This means Tuesday you can expect freezing fog, high winds and blizzard conditions followed by record flooding.
