Playing it where it lies: Following Tiger Woods' announcement that he was taking an indefinite break from professional golf after his admissions of infidelity, technology giant Accenture said it was breaking its sponsorship ties with Woods.

Already, several companies have expressed interest in signing Woods to new advertising deals, most notably GM's OnStar automatic accident response service.

Beware of Italians bearing gifts: President Barack Obama said he was “seriously angry” about a breach of security that allowed wannabe-socialites to crash a White House state dinner. Meanwhile, Italy's premier was bloodied in an attack when a man hurled a statuette at him.

Our advice to the president: Cancel that exchange program with the Italian secret service.

We are amused: Buckingham Palace is denying speculative reports that Prince William, second in line to the throne, is being groomed as a “shadow king,” following reports that the queen is passing on more of her duties to her grandson.

The British press may be exaggerating. Among the prince's new duties: programming Her Majesty's DVR, cleaning the palace gutters and taking the royal corgies for walkies.
