EVERETT — Nearly four years to the day after winning “American Idol,” country superstar Carrie Underwood will headline at Comcast Arena.

Underwood will bring her 45-date tour to Everett on May 29 as she tours behind her most recent Billboard chart-topper, “Play On.” Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday.

Her latest album produced several hits for the singer this year, including “Cowboy Casanova” and “Mama’s Song.”

“I am getting so excited about next year,” Underwood said in a news release. “I cannot wait to perform new music.”

Underwood became the first country singer to win “American Idol” on May 25, 2005. Her fame has yet to fade.

She has sold more than 11 million albums to date, with her debut album, “Some Hearts,” going a remarkable seven-times platinum — a nearly unheard of level of success this decade.

Underwood also won over the critics. She has become a perennial winner at the Grammy Awards, taking home awards in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Tickets to her Everett show range in price from $35 to $55 before service fees, and will be available online at comcastarenaeverett.com, by calling 866-332-8499 or at the box office, 2000 Hewitt Ave., Everett.
