Four-hour Lynnwood standoff ends with arrest
LYNNWOOD — Neighbors at a Lynnwood condominium complex were kept from home for several hours Thursday after a couple with a history of violence toward each other refused to answer the door for police.
Someone called 911 and hung up without talking to the emergency dispatcher. Police were told there was a history of domestic violence at the condominium, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said.
Police attempted to contact a man and a woman inside the unit about 11 a.m. They refused to answer the door for officers, Sessions said.
Members of South Snohomish County SWAT team and negotiators were summoned. The couple’s immediate neighbors were evacuated and the complex was cordoned off.
Negotiators talked with the man and the woman for a couple of hours. The woman left the unit just after 3 p.m. The man came out about 30 minutes later.
No one was hurt during the incident.
The man was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Police also arrested the woman for investigation of violating a protection order.
