Remember this name: Johermyn Chavez

There are strong indications that the "minor league prospect" who the Mariners will get from the Blue Jays in the Brandon Morrow trade is a power-hitting outfielder named Johermyn Chavez.

Chavez, 20, batted .283 with 21 home runs and 89 RBI this year for the Class A Lansing Lugnuts of the Midwest League. He finished the season with a .346 on-base percentage, a .474 slugging percentage and an .821 on-base-plus-slugging percentage.

Oh, and he struck out 137 times and drew 40 walks in 508 at-bats. He's a 6-foot-3, 220 pounder who bats right and throws right.

Chavez makes sense in that the Mariners would want an outfielder after trading away Tyson Gillies last week in the Cliff Lee deal. Still, this whole thing cries for another deal to bring a starting pitcher to the Mariners.
