Take a look back at the Boeing Co.'s original 747

Forty years ago this morning, the Boeing Co.'s first 747 entered commercial service.
It was supposed to take off on Jan. 21, 1970, but was delayed until the early hours of Jan. 22.
In 2006, The Herald took a look back at the significance of Boeing and its 747 to this community and to aviation.
Here are a few of my favorite stories:
Boeing Co. 747-100 chief engineer Joe Sutter: "I don't think anybody can imagine where aviation would be without the 747.”
