... Open your iWallet: Apple has unveiled its new tablet computer, the iPad, a slick one-piece unit that will surf the Web, send and receive e-mails, play videos and music and display book pages like Amazon's Kindle reader (Page A6).

Reaction to the iPad seems split between two camps: Those who have $500 to $800 to spend on another gadget praised the iPad as another game-changer from Apple. Those who don't have the cash shrugged their shoulders and wondered what all the fuss was about.



  • Head out on the highway: Everett and a group of motorcycle enthusiasts have reached an agreement that will bring a huge motorcycle show, that was essentially booted from Snohomish last year, to Everett this May (above).

    One proposal shot down early in negotiations: Bikers would park their motorcycles in Snohomish and be bused to Everett.



  • From our Just-Happy-to-See-Me Dept.: A New Zealand court has sentenced a German man to jail after he was discovered trying to board a flight with 44 geckos and skinks stuffed down his underpants, attempting to smuggle the rare lizards out of the country.

    The judge rejected the man's claim that the geckos told him that if he helped them leave New Zealand, they'd save him 15 percent on his car insurance.
