by Michelle Dunlop Herald Writer The Boeing Co. 747-8 Freighter completed taxi tests Saturday, clearing the cargo jet for its maiden flight Monday morning.
Boeing's first 747-8 freighter taxied around Everett's Paine Field on Saturday, reaching a speed of 103.5 miles per hour.
The taxi test was the final hurdle standing between Boeing's new freighter and its first flight.
"The airplane performed well," said Mo Yahyavi, 747 program vice president and general manager, Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "Based on early indications, the airplane is ready to fly."
Boeing's 747-8 Freighter could take off from Paine Field as early as 10 a.m., Monday. The jumbo jet will fly as long as five hours before landing again at Paine Field.
Take off just after noon today. The clouds cleared and it was a beautiful take off and climb out. Then over the olympics at about 17000'.. Everyone cheered. Chadwick | Feb 8, 2010 6:38 pm | 0 replies | Request removal
