Watching the dandelions grow

Decision time: Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Sunday told Fox News that she'll run for president in 2012 if she decides it's the right thing to do for the country and for the Palin family.

Since the president is paid $400,000 a year, and Palin reportedly can make $100,000 for giving a 45-minute speech, a presidential campaign may not be the right thing for the Palin family bank account.

New rules: Seeking to tidy up the city, Lynnwood leaders may forbid lawn grass that's taller than 6 inches.

For most of us, that restriction wouldn't be too much of a hassle to comply with. Dandelions don't usually grow that tall, and the entire lawn turns brown and shrivels up by early August anyway.

Other priorities: China invests heavily in education and infrastructure, said panelists discussing U.S.-China trade Friday at Everett Community College.

Asked to comment, U.S. business leaders said they were too busy maximizing short-term returns for their shareholders, while U.S. political leaders were completely preoccupied with defining the narrative and winning the news cycle.
