    Will Everett change to attract wineries?

    Everett isn't any kind of Utopia for winemakers -- far from it.

    That's not because the climate is bad for growing grapes. It's because the city's laws all but prohibit wineries from operating downtown.

    That might change.




    In a story published today, Herald reporter Debra Smith writes that city officials are talking about how they could encourage wineries to open in small retail spaces. This is all happening in the context of a bigger question: how Everett could be more flexible with regulations and help bring tenants into old buildings and other non-traditional spaces.
