The US men's hockey team took on gold medal favorite Canada this evening in Vancouver. If you didn't know, the Canadians LOVE, and I mean LOVE, their hockey. I would doubt if there are more passionate fans for any sport, anywhere in the world. And they brought it to Canada Hockey Place tonight. I would say it was about 95% for Canada, 4% for the US and a small number of random folks who wore Swedish hockey sweaters to the game. Don't ask, I don't know why.
The small minority of US fans were rewarded with a quick US goal 41 seconds into the game. It went back and forth until the US went up 3 goals to 2 in the second. I was lucky enough to get a few American flags waving in front of that gold celebration.
The game was pretty physical, with both sides trading blows.
Ultimately, the US just got more shots off and scored more times. Isn't that how it works? The team with the most points wins?
