Two die in collision on Broadway in Everett

EVERETT -- Two people were killed and a third person was in critical condition at Seattle's Harborview Medical Center late Friday night from a collision on Broadway near I-5.

Of the two deaths, one was a man and one was a woman, and both were in a car that was struck by a sport utility vehicle, said Everett Police Sgt. Robert Goetz. No further information was immediately available.

A third passenger in the car, a man, was in critical condition at Harborview, he said.

The crash occurred about 9:30 p.m. near the 41st Street overpass. The passenger car, southbound on Broadway, was hit by the SUV, which appeared to have been traveling in the wrong lane, Goetz said.

The driver of the SUV was arrested for investigation of vehicular homicide, Goetz said.

A passenger in the SUV was taken to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett for what were thought to be non-life threatening injuries.

The southbound freeway entrance to I-5 was closed for several hours.
