Suspects sought in Snohomish shooting

SNOHOMISH — Snohomish County sheriff's detectives are looking for suspects in an early morning shooting Wednesday that sent a Snohomish man, 30, to the hospital with serious injuries to his groin.

Gunfire erupted about 1:30 a.m. in a home in the 17700 block of Broadway Ave. in unincorporated Snohomish, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said.

The man who was shot reportedly was visiting the house. He was standing outside when he was confronted by four or five men, Hover said.

He ran back into the house but the suspects followed him inside where one man shot the victim in the crotch. Police did not disclose the type of firearm used.

The victim apparently knew the suspects and was afraid of them, Hover said.

Crews took the wounded man to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A hospital spokeswoman said the victim asked officials to maintain his privacy and not release his condition to media.

No arrests were made by late afternoon Wednesday and detectives continued to investigate. The incident does not appear to be random, Hover said.

Police were still trying to determine the motive for the violence and the relationship between the victim and the suspects.
