School bus, logging truck collide; no one hurt
ARLINGTON — No one was hurt when an empty logging truck and a school bus collided Friday afternoon near Oso.
The crash occurred around 4 p.m. on Highway 530, Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary said. It appears the truck, driven by a 47-year-old Sultan man, crossed over the center line and hit the bus. The bus driver tried to move as far to the right as possible to avoid a head-on collision.
The logging truck sustained an estimated $5,000 in damage and the school bus was a total loss, according to State Patrol.
There were 28 children on the bus, Arlington School District spokeswoman Misti Gilman said. The children ranged in age from 12 to 17. Another bus was sent to the scene to take the children home, she said.
