PREP ROUNDUP: Glacier Peak wins South soccer opener

SHORELINE — Glacier Peak (1-0-0 league, 6-2-0) started Wesco South league play with a solid 3-0 win over Shorewood (0-1-0, 4-3-1) on Friday at Shoreline Stadium.

In the 34th minute, Rylan Kautz scored Glacier Peak’s first goal off a Jackson Miller assist. Two minutes later, Miller kicked the ball from the left side, Ryan Wilson tapped the ball to Gregor Troost and Troost scored the second goal to give the Grizzlies a 2-0 lead at halftime.

Troost sealed the win with a 30-yard goal in the 73rd minute.

“It was a great game for us on the road,” said Glacier Peak coach Shannon Murray. “It was a great result for us on the road against a good team. To go to their place and win 3-0, we’re happy with it.”

Glacier Peak’s Andrew Weakly recorded the shutout in the net. Simon Aspinall tended the goal for Shorewood.

Shorecrest 4, Meadowdale 0: At Bothell, Glenn Paden has tallied a hat trick before for Shorcrest but never like the one he accomplished Friday. Paden scored the first three goals of the game in the eighth, ninth and 11th minutes assisted by Erik Bracht, Joe Schober and Ian Adams, respectively. Adams also fed Eli Blauser in the 32nd minute for his second assist. Eric Baker and Sam Schober combined for the clean sheet for Shorecrest (1-0-0 league, 8-0-0 overall). Kenneth Hill was in goal for Meadowdale (0-1-0, 1-7-0).

Kamiak 1, Lynnwood 0: At Mukilteo, after a scoreless 90 minutes, Kamiak prevailed in a shootout 4-1 to earn the Wesco South win. Caleb Smith guarded the goal for Kamiak and Emiliano Suarez was the goalkeeper for Lynnwood.

Mariner 6, Mountlake Terrace 4 (2OT): At Edmonds, Mariner scored twice in the two five-minute overtimes to secure the Wesco South victory. Despite the “golden goal” rule which ends the game when one team scores in an overtime period, the referee allowed the teams to play two overtimes. Mariner got three goals from Yahir Sandoval in the second, 45th and 85th minutes (Alex Gubarik, Christian Robles and Miguel Medina assists). Also scoring for Mariner were: Alex Gubarik in the 42nd minute (Sandoval), Amara Toure in the 83rd minute (Sandoval) and Christian Rodriguez in the 17th minute (Medina). Mountlake Terrace’s goal scorers were: Mohammed Shammin in the 27th minute (Manix Alvarez), Jonathon Alvarez in the 47th minute (Levi Suryan), Mesfin Gebremekel in the 53rd minute (Alvarez) and Aljandro Diaz-Taizan in the 63rd minute (Kiefer Higgins). Mariner’s goalies were Chris Curalla and Martin Banuelos. Ben Winters was in goal for Terrace.

Stanwood 6, Oak Harbor 1: At Oak Harbor, Brandon Schlagel scored twice for Stanwood, giving him six on the season, while Mickey Brown, Tad Dillon, Rashid Alansary and Julio Agular each added additional goals. Oak Harbor’s lone goal came on a penalty kick by Michael Chevchek.
