An early morning, three-alarm fire destroyed Emory's restaurant on the east side of Silver Lake in south Everett on Nov. 9, 2009.

EVERETT – A 16-year-old Everett boy was arrested today in connection with the Nov. 9 fire that destroyed the iconic restaurant Emory's on Silver Lake.

Everett police said the arrest came after several people identified the boy from video surveillance footage taken outside the restaurant as the fire began, Everett police Sgt. Robert Goetz said.

Detectives believe they know the boy's motive for starting the $2 million fire but were not prepared to discuss it today, Goetz said.

The boy has no connection to the restaurant, police said.

The boy has no known prior criminal history and currently is not enrolled in school, Goetz said.

He was booked into the Denney Juvenile Justice Center for investigation of first-degree arson.

The restaurant's owner, Emory Cole, has said he plans to rebuild the restaurant and hopes to reopen by the end of the year.
