Arlington: Aerobatic flying demonstration
Out of the Blue Aviation at Arlington Municipal Airport is offering a Spring Into Flying barbecue from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the airport.
Air entertainment is scheduled by the Blackjacks Squadron and members of the International Aerobatic Club.
There is no charge for this event and it is open to anyone interested in aviation or learning to fly.
Demonstration flights also are to be available.

Darrington: Sloan Creek Road closed
Sloan Creek Road remains closed this week as crews try to finish culvert and storm damage repairs on the forest road, said officials at the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest.
Weather conditions have slowed progress on the road, which is located 16 miles south of Darrington off the Mountain Loop Highway.
The closure affects access to the Glacier Peak Wilderness and the North Fork Sauk Trail.

Marysville: Shred documents at event
Marysville residents are invited to bring documents to the city’s annual Community Shred Day on April 24.
The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the Marysville Municipal Court building, 1015 State Ave.
Shred It, a Kent-based paper shredding company, is planning to post two trucks at the site until 1 p.m. or the trucks are full, whichever comes first.
Shredding will be done on a first-come, first-served basis. The service is limited to personal documents only with a limit of six boxes per person. No drop-off of boxes is permitted; participants must stay with boxes until shredded to prevent theft or rummaging.
The event is sponsored by the city and local businesses.

Stanwood: Concert to benfit Housing Hope
A Voices of Hope concert and bake sale is scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 26900 78th Ave. NW, Stanwood.
The free concert, with an opportunity to donate to Housing Hope, is followed by the bake sale.
Proceeds benefit Housing Hope and the families served at Lervick Family Village in Stanwood.

County salary commission meets
A Snohomish County citizens commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing tonight to gather comments on salaries for elected officials in 2011 and 2012.
The commission is an independent group of 10 appointed members who meet every two years to set the salaries for the County Council, the county executive, assessor, auditor, clerk, prosecuting attorney, sheriff and treasurer.
All meetings of the salary commission are open to the public and begin at 7 p.m.
