EvCC’s nursing program will add bachelors degrees
OLYMPIA — Gov. Chris Gregoire signed a new law Friday creating a bachelor of science in nursing program at the University Center at Everett Community College.
It would be offered in partnership with the University of Washington’s Bothell campus, which has a similar four-year degree program now.
Lawmakers earmarked $158,000 in the budget to enroll up to 25 full-time students this year. Eventually, as many as 50 full-time students could be served.
Gregoire is scheduled to act on the budget early next month.
University Center now offers more than 20 bachelor’s and master’s degrees in partnership with Central Washington University, Western Washington University, Eastern Washington University, The Evergreen State College, Washington State University, Hope International University and St. Martin’s University.
Everett Community College offers an associate degree nursing program that graduates between 70 and 90 students per year. Many EvCC students could then transfer to the UW Bothell program.
