Island County sheriff’s deputy's car hit by Oak Harbor man suspected of drunk driving

OAK HARBOR — A driver who smashed into another car in Oak Harbor early Saturday was arrested for investigation of drunk driving.

An Oak Harbor man, 25, was northbound on Highway 20 at N. Monroe Landing Road about 1 a.m. when he crossed the center line, lost control, spun 180 degrees and struck another car — driven by an Island County sheriff’s deputy, according to the Washington State Patrol

Neither driver was hurt. The 25-year-old was arrested for investigation of DUI.

The road was closed for more than five hours as troopers investigated.
