Police seek suspect in attempted abduction of girl in Everett

EVERETT – Police are asking the public to help find a man who may have tried to abduct a girl this morning.

The 13-year-old girl was walking to school in the 500 block of 124th Street SW in unincorporated Everett about 7:30 this morning when she spotted a man standing across the street, Snohomish County sheriff's spokeswoman Rebecca Hover said. The girl said he exposed himself, and she ran off.

The girl told detectives the man followed her and grabbed her backpack, but she got away. She told school officials about the incident. There were no other witnesses, Hover said.

The man was described as Hispanic, in his late 30s, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall with a regular build. He was wearing a gray jacket with a zipper, black jeans and a dark-blue baseball cap. He had stubble on his chin and neck.

Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's tip line at 425-388-3845.
