Hear some funny music from Rural Characters on Whidbey

They might play “Fishin’ for Chickens.” And you might hear one of their new songs “The Island is Wide — Just Like Me.”

The Rural Characters have built a reputation for funny lyrics, the versatility to play anything from surfer tunes to vaudeville, and longevity.

The group is made up of Gordy Adams, Tom Fisher, Randy Hudson and Tom Walker, who have been singing together for 12 years.

For the past seven years, they have hosted the local artists benefit concert at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts.

The Rural Characters will host again this year with performances at 7:30 tonight and Saturday at Whidbey Island Center for the Arts, 565 Camano Ave., Langley.

Tickets are $20. Call 360-221-8268 or go to www.wicaonline.com. The show is recommended for ages 13 and older.
