It's lights out at Ikea

Göödbye Glöda: Swedish home furnishings giant Ikea says it will stop selling traditional light bulbs, such as the incandescent and inefficient Glöda, at its North American stores next month.

Ikea's well known for leaning green. Along with ending the use of plastic bags and using sustainable materials, it also encourages its customers to recycle the umlauts from product names.

  • Or was that Cool Ranch flavor? Marysville's hearing examiner has ruled against issuing a business license to a medical marijuana co-op in Smokey Point but said Elevated Medical Treatment could apply again after it made some changes to its application.

    The applicants were advised to resubmit their application on paper that didn't have a paisley background and wasn't stained with grease from Nacho Cheese Doritos.

  • Got the slippery thing going for him: Former USC Trojan and current Seattle Seahawks football coach Pete Carroll for the first time fielded questions about a USC star who received benefits from a sports marketer, a violation of NCAA rules. Carroll maintained he was unaware of any rules being broken.

    If this coaching thing doesn't work out for Carroll, maybe he could take a stab at BP spokesman.
