Heat streak peaking in Washington

SEATTLE — The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for today in the Puget Sound region and southwest Washington for temperatures in the 90s.

Forecaster warn the heat cold be a problem for children, the elderly and people who work outside.

Highs in the 90s also are forecast for Eastern Washington, where the temperature could break 100 on Friday. Forecasters say the temperatures should return to summer norms for the weekend — 70s and 80s in Western Washington and 90s in Eastern Washington.

A record high of 90 degrees was set Wednesday at Sea-Tac Airport, breaking the old record of 88 set in 1953.
