Silvertips will play 1st eight games on home ice

EVERETT -- The Everett Silvertips released their tentative schedule for the 2010-11 season Wednesday.

Everett opens the season at home on Friday, Sept. 24, against the Seattle Thunderbirds. That was a change from the originally announced home opener of Sept. 25 against the Vancouver Giants.

Everett spends the entire first three-plus weeks at home, beginning the season with eight straight home games. Seven of the next eight games are on the road.

The schedule gets busy in November with 14 games in 26 days. That includes three straight weekends in which the Tips play three games in three days.

Everett takes its trip out east about a month later than usual as the Tips swing through the East Division on Dec. 3-11.

The Tips ring in the new year with home games on both New Year's Eve (Vancouver) and New Year's Day (Tri-City Americans).

Everett's final home game takes place with more than a week remaining in the season as the Tips play host to the Portland Winterhawks on Mar. 12. Everett concludes the season with four straight road games, finishing up on Mar. 20 at Vancouver.
