North County Update
Arlington: Play golf and welcome visitors
City employees have volunteered to run a golf tournament Aug. 7, with proceeds going to help the Arlington Arts Council produce “Welcome to Arlington” signs. The event also will support Arlington Kids Kloset, which provides clothes to children in three school districts.
Sponsors and golf teams are still needed. For $65, teams get the use of a golf cart for play as well as lunch.
The Arlington Open Golf Scramble is set for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 7 at Gleneagle Golf Course, 7619 Country Club Drive, Arlington.

Darrington: StrutzFest raises money for kids
The Arlington-based Mike Turner Memorial Foundation presents StrutzFest today and Saturday at the Whitehorse Mountain amphitheater, 42501 Highway 530, just west of Darrington.
Strutz, a well-known Arlington band led by Toby Strotz, is hosting a reunion of 17 classic rock bands from throughout the Northwest region.
Proceeds from the event are donated to Special Olympics and Seattle Children’s hospital.

Lake Stevens: Old Dog Haven competes
Old Dog Haven is in an online competition with other animal shelters around the country for a $10,000 award from the All-Star Animal Rescue Site.

Marysville: Sounds of Summer concert
The Marysville Parks and Recreation’s Sounds of the Summer Concert Series continues at 7 tonight with a concert by the group, Recess Monkey.
The family concert will be at Jennings Park at 6915 Armar Road.
A concert featuring pop and soul funk band, Luc and the Lovingtons, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Aug. 6 in the park. Both concerts are sponsored by Frontier FIOS.

The Marysville City Council plans this year to continue its tradition of not meeting in August.
The council’s next meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 7 at City Hall, 1049 State Ave.

Marysville Night at Everett AquaSox game
Marysville residents and their families can get a deal on tickets to the Aug. 21 Everett AquaSox game against the Tri-City Dust Devils.
The AquaSox are offering upper box seats at $9 per seat or $20 per seat including an all-you-can-eat barbecue. The game will start at 7:05 p.m.
