Free classes for hunters slated on Whidbey

Regardless of what type of game you hunt, the Central Whidbey Sportsman's Association offers an upcoming series of free hunter education classes you won't want to miss.

Covering such topics as gun safety, state game laws and habitat of game animals, the classes are open to all hunters born after Jan. 1, 1972.

The sessions run from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays, Aug. 4 through 7 and again Aug. 25 through 28.

The Saturdays of each series are firing range days. Materials, including firearms, will be provided.

Participants must attend all four dates of their chosen session to qualify for completion.

Classes will take place at the Central Whidbey Sportsman's Association clubhouse south of Coupeville on Safari Street, just south of Highway 20 and Morris Road and just north of the Outlying Field. Watch for a sign on the highway.

Call Sam Weatherford at 360-914-0354 or John Boling at 360-969-2440, to register. Information also is online, at http://wdfw.wa.gov/hunting and www.cwsaonline.org.
