Former Silvertip signs with Lightning
Former Everett Silvertips defenseman Radko Gudas signed a three-year entry-level contract with the NHL's Tampa Bay Lightning, the Lightning announced Monday.
Gudas, a 20-year-old from the Czech Republic, was an impact rookie for Everett last season. In 65 games he tallied seven goals and 30 assists, leading the team in both penalty minutes (151) and plus/minus (plus-45). He was subsequently selected in the third round of this year's NHL draft by Tampa Bay.
Gudas is eligible to return to Everett this season as an overager. However, as a 20-year-old he's eligible to play professionally in the minor leagues, and it's expected he will suit up for Tampa Bay's American Hockey affiliate, the Norfolk Admirals.
