Off Wii go into the wild blue yonder

Come fly with me: Airline pilots are getting their introduction to flying Boeing's 787 Dreamliner at a new flight simulator at a Boeing facility in Renton. The 787's flight deck is replicated inside a hydraulically controlled box with video screens that show simulated views.

As an example of the advanced avionics aboard the 787, instead of a conventional flight stick, the captain and flight officer were each handed a Nunchuck controller from the onboard Wii game system.

  • Strait of Juan de Puke-ah: The British Columbia provincial government has agreed, after insisting for years that it wasn't necessary, to build sewage treatment facilities for B.C.'s capital in Victoria.

The bad news is the treatment plants won't be built for several more years. But the good news is that, once they are done, orcas won't have to hold their blowholes as they swim along the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

  • Oh, the shark bites: A practical joker took advantage of recent shark sightings in Massachusetts waters and caused a scare by carving a shark fin from plastic foam, wrapping it in duct tape and weighting it so it floated convincingly in the water.

Police are looking for a man wearing X-ray specs, carrying a joy buzzer in his hand and wearing a flower on his lapel that sprays water.
