Arlington: Take a small farm corn tour
Red Rooster Route tour organizers have planned a Corn Festival for 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Monday.
The free festival provides outdoor family fun and entertainment at Garden Treasures Nursery and Organic Farm, 3328 Highway 530, and Foster's Produce and Corn Maze, 5818 Highway 530.
The Red Rooster Route is a nonprofit association of small farms in the Arlington area.

Darrington: Help needed at sport events
Volunteers are needed to work at middle school and high school sports games throughout the year.

Marysville: New visitors guide available
A free 2010-11 Marysville Visitors Guide to promote tourism in Marysville and the surrounding north Snohomish County area is now available.
The 20-page booklet features a downtown street map of Marysville; a list of Marysville and north county festivals, events, attractions and activities; a brief history; descriptions of neighboring communities; parks, camping and getaway ideas; hotels and accommodations; and relocation information.
Copies of the guide can also be requested by e-mail at info@marysvillewa.gov.

Apply for Marysville school board openings
The Marysville School District has been creating a list of criteria it would like to see in two new school board members that will be appointed in coming weeks.
A recruitment steering committee of local residents and the school board compiled a list of desired characteristics, such as the ability to commit the necessary time and a focus on student achievement.

Public forums are planned for 6:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and 14 at the school district office, 4220 80th St. NE, to discuss the openings in districts 4 and 5.
A map describing the district boundaries for each area is available on the district website at www.msvl.k12.wa.us.
Interviews with candidates are scheduled for Oct. 4. Steering committee members have been invited to take part in the candidate interviews.
